Meet Alecia Peters, LCSW
Alecia Peters is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s of Science in Social Work from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. She is passionate about helping children, teens, adults, and families thrive and reach their optimal potential through a compassionate and collaborative approach to therapy. Committed to partnering with families, Alecia helps clients achieve their therapeutic goals, integrating prayer and biblical principles upon request, in alignment with her Christian faith.
Alecia embraces each client—whether child, teen, or adult—with openness, non-judgment, and unconditional positive regard. She treats every individual with dignity and respect, fostering an environment of acceptance. In therapy, she empowers clients rather than positioning herself as the expert, recognizing their courage in seeking help and guiding them through the transformative journey of counseling. Her approach reflects the belief that therapy is a powerful and rewarding process that can lead to personal growth, healing, and restoration.
With over 20 years of experience, Alecia has worked in diverse settings, including private practice, foster care agencies, correctional facilities, dialysis centers, and psychiatric hospitals. Her expertise extends to a range of populations, such as children, teens, and families, as well as individuals with developmental disabilities, domestic violence survivors, and those struggling with physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges. She specializes in play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, child and adolescent counseling, and child-parent relationship training.
Alecia has experience providing individual and group counseling to elementary and middle school students facing various challenges. Her professional affiliations include the National Association of Social Workers, the Association for Play Therapy, and regional chapters such as the Texas Association for Play Therapy and the North Texas Association for Play Therapy.
In her personal time, Alecia enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling both domestically and internationally, writing poetry, reading a wide range of books, listening to music, and volunteering with nonprofit organizations.
